I think this is due to two things: one of which is that they paid off their debts (the “capitalistic one”) and the other one is that her husband was like a burden on her in the last few months of his life.
Also the part of Linda gets quite interesting, later on, because to her Willy’s death seems like a release. Here we can see that he is inherent in his father’s dreams and that he probably will live a life similar to his father’s, since he defends his father and wants to show that he didn’t die in vain. We didn’t know too much about Happy until this point of the story, but we knew that he always fulfilled his fathers expectancies rather than his brother. Biff, who “knows who he is” doesn’t think like his father did and won’t live the same life.
